Grading Rules and Fees

Black belt gradings will be held twice a year by the grading panel at the GKI main Gasshuku.

Black belt gradings should be done at a GKI Gasshuku, but gradings for 1st and 2nd Dan may be done at Mini-gasshukus where previously agreed. The decision whether or not to hold a grading will be based on the length of time before a GKI Gasshuku will be held locally, the ability of students to travel because of age, economic factors and other appropriate reasons. Only members from the dojos the host country may attempt a black belt grade at a Mini Gasshuku.

The GKI will train and encourage senior instructors to carry out gradings by involving them in grading panels and having two panels at gradings where the numbers are large.

Part of the examination fee will be paid the Chief Instructor and the Chairman, as the GKI grading certification is validated by their signatures.

Gasshukus

All events should be budgeted and planned to break even. As a rule of thumb, the budget should assume 95% of the revenue of the previous year's event, taking in to account any obvious major differences related to venue, demographics and so on. The responsibility this rests with the organising country/group. A budget must be produced to ensure that the normal fees structure can be met. Instructors attending should be informed of the time table and it should be confirmed that all fees will be met in accordance with the GKI guide lines plus expenses.

All government taxes are the responsibility of the individual instructor.

GKI England Gasshukus and special events (like sending members overseas), could have a GKI grant and this should be pre-agreed at an AGM. GKI England should meet any shortfall in revenue at a GKI England Gasshuku, where the shortfall is due to circumstances that could not be reasonably anticipated. A Gasshuku held in another country should have any shortfall made up from the host countries own funds.

All events should be budgeted and planned to break even. As a rule of thumb, the budget should assume 95% of the revenue of the previous year's event, taking in to account any obvious major differences related to venue, demographics and so on.

There will be two main GKI Gasshukus held each year with a third every other year in accordance of the time table produced by the GKI committee. Other courses will be run throughout the year.

The summer GKI Gasshuku will be four days duration whilst the Autumn/ Winter GKI Gasshuku will be held over a long weekend.
